Kayda of Dilli gharana in Teentaal : Dha Ti Ta Dha Ti Ta Dha Dha Ti Ta Dha Ge Ti Na Ke Na

As I mentioned in the article, Jatis are rhythmic patterns. When Tisra Jati or Mishra Jati is played in the Teentaal, it will be called Tisra/Mishra Jati Laykari. Once this Laykari established, you are free to improvise with Kayda, Gat, Rela etc. So in Tisra Jati Laykari you can play Kayda,Rela,Gat of Ektaal. In Mishra Jati Laykari you can play Kayda,Rela,Gat from Roopak Taal. Here is Mishra Jati played by Ustad Zakir Hussain : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NjJ1HugGdgc Khand Jati by Ojas Adhiya : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xpgyv8rDm2I Tisra Jati by Pt. Kayda of Dilli gharana in Teentaal : Dha Ti Ta Dha Ti Ta Dha Dha Ti Ta Dha Ge Ti Na Ke Na

In earlier comment I had mentioned that it is Chatushra jati Kayda, rather I should say it is a Kayda which we can be played in Chatushra Jati ( I have modified my earlier comment ), because when we play Chatushra Jati in other taal we can play this Kayda as improvisation because it is 16 beats Kayda so it will perfectly fit in Chatushra Jati as improvisation. But to establish Chatushra as Jati we need to show/play 4|4|4|4 divisions. Kayda phrases should naturally surface 4|4|4|4 divisions to call a Kayda as Chatushra Jati Kayda which is not happening in this case. I will explore more to verify my understanding.

To answer your queries I have posted two articles. First one is How to count beats of composition : http://vishwamohini.com/music/music.php?id=744 and second one is Understanding Jati and Laykari : http://vishwamohini.com/music/music.php?id=743 Please go through it.

Kayda of Dilli gharana in Teentaal : Dha Ti Ta Dha Ti Ta Dha Dha Ti Ta Dha Ge Ti Na Ke Na

Tirsa jati starts at 0.31 secs and Mishra jati starts at 1.37 secs. It is 16 beats kayda, it means it fits in 4, 8 or 16 beats. However it is common practice to improvise Kayda in different jatis in solo by adding or subtracting appropriate bols or phrases. I have created improvisation melody to put examples of Tisra and Mishra jati examples of this Kayda. Here is the link : http://vishwamohini.com/music/music.php?id=757
